SHANGHAI CALLING Wins Acting and Writing Prizes at 15th Shanghai International Film Festival

SHANGHAI CALLING, the new romantic comedy set in the American “expat” community of modern Shanghai, China, continued its award-winning festival run at the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival, where it screened in competition for the prestigious China Movie Channel Media Awards.

Lead actor Daniel Henney won the prize for “Best New Actor,” while writer/director Daniel Hsia took home the prize for “Best Screenwriter.” ¬†SHANGHAI CALLING was also nominated in several other categories, including “Best New Actress” (Eliza Coupe), “Best Director” (Daniel Hsia), and “Best Picture.”

Producer Janet Yang accepted the “Best New Actor” prize on Henney’s behalf.

SHANGHAI CALLING, which also stars Bill Paxton, Geng Le, Zhu Zhu, and Alan Ruck, was the only US/China Co-Production to compete in this year’s Festival.

The Shanghai International Film Festival is the largest film festival in China.
